Scott Johnson is a graduate of Stetson University and began work with the Florida Insurance Commissioner and then with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) where he has been for almost 34 years. He has served in almost every department and capacity but is currently in charge of the association's rather substantial public and legislative affairs. Before that he was an instructor on many technical insurance courses of the association. He represents the FAIA on various public boards and committee's including the board of governors of the Florida Auto Joint Underwriting Association. In the early 1980's Scott served as Vice President and General Manager of Shamrock Automation Systems, Inc., an FAIA subsidiary marketing insurance software in all fifty states.

Scott has drafted numerous insurance statutes and contributed to the drafting of hundreds of others. Most recently, he authored an FAIA plan to reform Florida's property insurance market called the Windstorm Coverage Fund and originated and drafted Florida's unique Consumer Choice statute establishing new standards for the depopulation of residual markets.

Scott has written two books on association management, including the first Certified Association Executive (CAE) course guide; a designation he was one of the youngest to receive. He was the 1991 President of the Florida Society of Association Executives, the state's leading organization serving state and national association executives and was voted Florida's Association Executive of the Year in 1995.

Scott has drafted hundreds of technical articles and editorials regarding insurance matters and recently published a book tracking the competitiveevolution of insurance and the history of independent agents titled From Cartels To Competition.

Scott is a charter member of the Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) designation and a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
