What is FAIA?
FAIA stands for the Florida Association of Insurance Agents. So, FAIA is a nonprofit trade association that helps enhance the Independent Agency System through education, legislation, and communication. FAIA lets government officials know how proposed legislation affects the insurance industry and assists in correcting problems in legislation before the legislation is passed.
Education: FAIA facilitates insurance education in the state of Florida by offering both online and classroom taught licensing courses. The state of Florida also requires licensed insurance professionals to obtain continuing education (CE) credit.
Legislation: When the McCarran-Ferguson act placed insurance regulation back in the hands of the states, the insurance industry of Florida realized it needed a voice in Tallahassee. The insurance industry found this voice in FAIA, which lobbies for legislation that benefits the insurance industry. Other FAIA legislative efforts include the endorsement of viable government officials and the interpretation of complex new laws for members.
Communication: FAIA facilitates communication in two ways. First, FAIA facilitates communication between the insurance industry and Florida's government. FAIA lets government officials know how proposed legislation affects the insurance industry and assists in correcting problems in legislation before it is passed. Second, FAIA facilitates communication among its own members in the forms of a convention, the Young Agents' Council (YAC), and newsletters.
