Hardening Your Home Against Hurricanes
HARDENING YOUR HOME AGAINST HURRICANES:
A Trusted Choice® Safe Living Event
PURPOSE
To promote wind mitigation techniques that benefit Florida consumers and demonstrate tangible measures to harden one's home/business against the risk of loss from hurricanes, based on the methods described in 215.5586, F.S.
PLANS
FAIA will craft tabletop displays and other visual aids, detailing cost-effective mitigation techniques, which have the added benefit of reducing insurance bills. FLASH will provide literature, pertaining to mitigation techniques. If possible, FLASH or Home Depot may provide "hands-on" items for customers to view, such as tie-down straps, hurricane clips, etc. FAIA's Young Agents Council will coordinate the statewide campaign, staffing agents at each of the Home Depot locations. Ron Sachs Communications will coordinate the public relations effort. Representatives from County Emergency Management, Department of Financial Services, and the National Weather Service have been invited to participate.
