After receiving his college degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and serving seven years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard, David began his insurance career in a family-owned independent agency in Vero Beach, Florida, where he was a licensed agent selling all types of insurance.

In 1996, David accepted a training and education position with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents in Tallahassee, Florida, where he presents continuing education seminars throughout the country on a variety of insurance subjects.

In addition to being a full time insurance nerd, David is an avid runner and smokes the best ribs, chicken, and pork in the country.

A few days ago, the insurance industry lost an icon when John Eubank, CPCU, ARM passed away. Space does not permit a description of John’s 50-plus career in the insurance industry; you can read John’s biography here. I learned years ago that no one is irreplaceable, but the ability to fill the shoes that John left behind is nearly impossible. 

Uh-ho, I Damaged a Rental Car

My grandson (his name is Tate, but I call him “Rambo”) turned one-year-old a few days ago. On Friday and Saturday, I made a quick trip to Bluffton, South Carolina (Jim and Nick’s BBQ is there!) for the big party. Rather than put 700 miles on my car in two days, I rented a car from Hertz; I do that often.

Sometimes a lender may stand firm with a demand that is totally irrational or illegal. Often times, the mere threat of telling the lender “I will file a complaint against you with your regulator” may work.
