Every FAIA agency member is assigned a Member Advocate (MA) to be their direct point of contact at the association. No matter what your question, our MAs can help. Taylor Hendrickson, a Tallahassee native, is the Director of FAIA’s Young Agents Council. We sat down with Taylor and talked to her about the best parts of her job, her favorite FAIA event, and why her mom has made the biggest impact on her career.

Young Agents Council Director & Member Advocate

Years with the association: 5 years
Hometown: Tallahassee, Fla.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is connecting people with solutions, helping them grow their business, and connecting them to a network of like-minded individuals to help them create relationships within the industry.

What do you wish more members knew about FAIA?
I wish more members knew how important it is to use their member advocate and have more conversations with them. With any problem you approach us with, we can find a solution to help. Even something simple like getting to know your member advocate and becoming buds is an excellent way to start building that relationship so we can better assist you.

What’s your favorite FAIA Event?
The YAC Sales and Leadership Conference for sure (though I may be biased). I like Sales and Leadership because it is an intimate event where you can network in a smaller setting with people who came because they want to better themselves.

In your opinion, what is the most valuable skill that an agent can have?
I think networking is the most valuable skill an agent can have inside the industry and when it comes to bringing in and retaining new clients. I think it’s a skill set you build over time.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career up to this point?
My mom has made the biggest impact on my career because she is a strong woman who has done so well in life. I watched her come from a place where she made a life-impacting decision and instead of it consuming her, she started her own business and now lives her life to the fullest. She makes me want to be better and makes me want to fight for the insurance industry.  I can feel the direct impact of what we’re doing at the association through my mom.

What do you do for fun?
I like to travel and hang out with my dogs, my boyfriend, and my family. I also like to mountain bike, cook, and experience different cultures.

What is one of your favorite things?
One of my favorite things in life is when I receive a note, text, or email letting me know someone is thinking of me. I love when that happens.

What is something people are surprised to learn about you?
That I’m Cuban and did rodeo for like 15 years. Most people are also surprised to learn that I am the only person with red hair in my family.

Who do you admire and why?
One of the people I admire a lot is FAIA’s President & CEO, Kyle Ulrich. I admire him because he stepped into the association and worked his way up from the bottom rung to the CEO position all before the age of 45, which I find absolutely amazing. The way that he thinks is just so many steps ahead, and he is so confident in the way he approaches things. Kyle also does a great job of making sure everyone is included in the decisions being made and makes sure not to leave anyone out.
