Workforce Development
The ultimate goal is to connect students looking for viable career opportunities with agencies that are ready to hire them. Contact Dave Newell to see how you can help.
Building Insurance Communities
Toward that end, FAIA is building “insurance communities” around the state to support these colleges. Volunteers are needed to teach classes, speak to students, give presentations, open their agencies to student tours, provide internships, and hire graduates.
FAIA continues to support the Dr. William T. Hold/The National Alliance Program in Risk Management and Insurance at FSU. Through the Good Works Fund, FAIA provides three named scholarships—the Bob Ross, Tom C. Johnson, and William "Buddy" T. McCue—to FSU risk management students.
Internship Guide
Staffing issues continue to be a major challenge for independent agencies. One way to address these issues is to develop a quality internship program. Internships can be a source of low-cost, temporary labor and a recruiting tool for permanent employees. FAIA created the Employers Gudie to Agency Internships to familiarize you with internship programs and provide a framework for creating your own program.
Training for New Hires, Agents and Staff
FAIA partners with My Agency Campus, online training solutions for both new hires and experienced staff within the insurance industry.
Workforce Development Toolkit
FAIA and its Good Works Fund and Workforce Develoment committees have been working to reframe insurance careers for prospect new hires, to increase awareness of career opportunities in the industry, and to drive enrollment in the risk management/insurance associate degree programs at partner schools.
Toward that end, FAIA created message-tested promotional materials for the use of our state college partners to connect with potential students. These materials are available for download and use by partners and agents alike.
