Good Works Fund

The Good Works Fund was established in 2009 to support charitable giving in the insurance field with an emphasis on insurance education. Contributions help support institutes of higher education with insurance degree programs, and provide scholarships to talented students pursuing insurance as a field of study. 

Gifts to the Good Works Fund ensure both current and future good works: 25 percent of each gift is invested as an endowment to perpetuate the mission of the FAIA Good Works Fund for many generations. The Community Foundation of North Florida* manages all contributions to the FAIA Good Works Fund, which are tax-deductible, and a volunteer leadership committee oversees the fund's administration and other efforts.

The Good Works Fund provides scholarship and organizational support to the following colleges, and is working to expand its partnerships throughout the state.

Good Works Fund University Scholarships

The Good Works Fund supports four named scholarships for students attending Florida State University's Risk Management/Insurance program. An appointed panel in the RMI department selects recipients based on nominations from FSU RMI faculty.

  • Bob Ross Scholarship:  Established in 2014, this scholarship is awarded in honor of former FAIA educator Bob Ross. One scholarship in the amount of $5,000 is awarded each academic year.
  • Tom C. Johnson Scholarship: Established in 1990, this scholarship is awarded in honor of the former FAIA president. One scholarship in the amount of $1,500 is awarded for the academic year.
  • Buddy McCue Scholarship: Established in 1998, this scholarship is awarded in honor of the former FAIA president. The scholarship award is $1,000 for the academic year. 
  • Jeffrey W. Grady Scholarship: Established in 2020, this scholarship is awarded in honor of the former FAIA president. The scholarship award is $1,500 for the academic year.
