FAIA is working to serve our members in the wake of Hurricane Ian. As agents across Florida work to help customers who have been impacted by the storm, we are working to ensure agents have access to the help they need. Here are five resources agents need to know about after the storm:

1. FAIA stands ready to assist. We will be sending a team down to the impacted areas tomorrow and will be there as many times as needed toMicrosoftTeams-image-(28).png provide support.

2. Our Disaster Command Post is up-to-date with new information and resources. You can help your customers understand coverages and deductibles by posting and sharing agent-to-consumer tools, like What Insureds Need to Know About Insurance and Hurricanes.

3. We’re hearing from our members that public adjustors and contractors have begun canvassing the state. Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate Tasha Carter has put together resources detailing a policyholder’s legal rights when working with a public adjuster that agents should share with consumers. You can download the Working with a Public Adjuster document in English, Spanish, and Creole

4. Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) are setting up two insurance villages in Charlotte and Lee counties to assist consumers with insurance claims and other needs. You can find the latest information on the villages and their hours on the CFO’s website.

5. The Trusted Choice Relief fund is available to help agents and their communities when natural disasters like Hurricane Ian strike. If you, your agency, or members of your staff want to apply for a grant from the fund, click here to submit an application. For more information on what the grant will cover, read these guidelines. If you would like to make a donation to help your fellow agents, visit the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Inc.'s website.
